Consistency is Crucial

It was finally time. You got through that youth service, that vision, that dream, and you heard from God. He called you, and you decided to be a Campus Missionary. To evangelize your school, preaching the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. You embarked on the journey of a missionary to the largest population of unchurched teens: the school campus.

You started your campus movement–your club, prayer circle, your weekly free baked goods. More students started showing up, word spread around the school, even the teachers commended you for making a positive impact. Things were looking positive. You were sure God was going to bring revival to your school!

But then…something happened.

You got sick and missed a few days of school. Then exams came. Then there was a Pep Rally. Then there was that really cold day when the weather went under 70 degrees and you had to wear your parent’s coat with a scarf and gloves…. Different things caused a reschedule, postponing, or even a cancellation to your ministry. Next thing you know, your campus movement has slowed to a crawl. Not because of inability…but because of inconsistency.

It can be tough to be consistent in an unpredictable world. Things come up in our lives that require our attention, effort, and focus. However, God is faithful to always give you the grace to do what He has called you to do at your campus, because “…he that began a good work in you will bring it to completion…” (Philippians 1:6). When life becomes cluttered, we can lean on a God who is constant!

We want to give you 3 tips to remaining consistent with your campus movement:

1. Stay Faithful (regardless of feelings)

Remember that burning desire that you had when God spoke to you about launching your campus movement? God has STILL called you to it!

As time goes on, the “freshness” may wear off, but remember what God called you to do.

When God gives you a ministry, it’s not to do until it’s no longer fun, but it’s for you to do until it’s finished.

Sometimes situations impact our feelings but never let feelings impact your follow through… you can do this!

2. Expect Turbulence

Have you ever been on an airplane? When you’re flying and the air pressure starts to change, the plane begins to shake. But if the airplane keeps flying forward, it gets through the shaking and reaches its destination.

Has your campus movement hit some turbulence?

Don’t be discouraged!

Bumps in the road don’t mean the car is flawed, it means the destination is even more worthwhile!

3. Remember Your “WHY”

The 5 W’s (who, what, where, when, why) all play a part in your campus movement…but your “WHY” is the most important.

Your “who, what, where and when” may change, but if your “WHY” stays consistent, so will your campus movement.

If your “why” is because it’s fun or because it was just something to do, that may change. But if your why is because God has given you a passion to reach the lost… that’s a “why” that will remain.

Remember “why” you’ve launched your campus movement, and it’ll drive you towards your goals!

Consistency is so crucial because we live in an ever-changing world. Fads change, trends change, even people change, but Jesus is the only one that is constant. Jesus is still the savior in any and every situation…and He has empowered YOU to consistently preach the Gospel to the lost of your campus.
